Rebecca Rapaport Ness, L.Ac is a licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbalist and certified Shiatsu massage therapist. She combines the use of Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, moxibustion, cupping, Shiatsu and nutritional counseling to support people in obtaining and sustaining optimal health.
Rebecca holds a four-year M.S. from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a B.A. from the University at Albany. She has practiced in a wide-range of hospital and clinical settings, including the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, the Haight Ashbury Medical Center and the ACTCM Community Clinic. At CPMC, Rebecca worked with patients who were rehabilitating after strokes, car accidents and surgeries. Medical doctors refer patients for Acupuncture to help issues surrounding pain management, rehabilitation, speech therapy, motor coordination, muscle tone and weakness, depression and anxiety. The Haight Ashbury Medical Center is a busy medical drop in clinic where Rebecca provided treatment to a diverse patient population of indigent adults.
Rebecca continues her education with a post-graduate Chinese Medical internship with Dr. Robert Johns in Berkeley, California. Dr. Johns is a classically trained Chinese Medical Doctor with training rooted in extensive (20+ years) apprenticeships with Dr. Fung Fung, Dr. Andrew Tseng, and Dr. Shen, all high level Chinese Medical Doctors. Learning as an apprentice from a master practitioner lies at the heart of the classical style.
Rebecca's approach to care is multidimensional, factoring in symptoms, history, lifestyle, and diet. She believes that patient education is a vital part of the medicine as it empowers individuals to play an important role in their own healthcare. Rebecca feels that Chinese Medicine and Shiatsu are a part of who she is. She feels blessed to practice this medicine and help people resolve their health issues.
