BIOGRAPHY

Rebecca Rapaport Ness, L.Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and certified Shiatsu massage therapist. In addition to these modalities, she also utilizes moxibustion, cupping, and nutritional counseling to support people in obtaining and sustaining optimal health.

Apprenticing from a master practitioner lies at the heart of the Classical style of acupuncture—a style that has been practiced in the East for thousands of years. Rebecca has trained intensively with Dr. Robert Johns in Berkeley, California. Dr. Johns is a classically trained Chinese Medical Doctor with knowledge rooted in his own twenty-plus years of apprenticeships with Dr. Fung Fung, Dr. Andrew Tseng, and Dr. Shen—all high-level Chinese Medical Doctors.

Rebecca holds a four-year M.S. from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a B.A. from the University at Albany. She has practiced in a wide range of hospital and clinical settings, including the California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, the Haight Ashbury Medical Center, and the ACTCM Community Clinic. At CPMC, Rebecca worked with patients who were rehabilitating after strokes, car accidents and surgeries. The Haight Ashbury Medical Center is a busy drop-in medical clinic where Rebecca provided treatment to a diverse patient population of indigent adults.

Rebecca's approach to care is multidimensional, factoring in symptoms, history, lifestyle, and diet. She believes that patient education is a vital part of the medicine, as it empowers individuals to play an important role in their own healthcare. Rebecca believes in spending time with each patient in order to assess their medical issues and nurture their health goals.

"Once I began to experience acupuncture for my own body, I realized that Chinese Medicine resonated for me. The lifestyle advice that I offer to patients, I practice as well."
