CHINESE MEDICINE

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy applied to acupuncture points on the body using burning dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris).

The Chinese word for Acupuncture—Zhen jiu—translates to "needle" and "moxa", so in fact half of the meaning of this therapy is moxibustion (jiu). Moxibustion is especially useful in strengthening the immune system. Moxibustion is also used to treat issues such as diarrhea, constipation, the common cold, menstrual cramps, joint pain, and back pain. It promotes circulation and can be used safely to enhance fertility and support pregnancy, including turning a breech baby.

The created universe carries the yin at its back and the yang in front; Through the union of the pervading principles it reaches harmony.
