How to prepare for your acupuncture treatments:

  • The most important thing you can do to prepare for your acupuncture appointment is to eat within two hours of your appointment. Because acupuncture can be very relaxing, it can lower your blood pressure. If your blood pressure and blood glucose (sugar) levels fall too much, you can feel dizzy and/or nauseous after a treatment. If you have your treatment with an empty stomach it can lead to low blood sugar levels. It's always a good idea to have a light snack before your session.
  • Avoid caffeine or alcohol before your appointment.
  • Strenuous exercise immediately before or after an appointment is strongly discouraged.
  • Reserve other treatments (massage, chiropractic, etc.) for a day when you are not receiving an acupuncture treatment.

To begin, begin.
